Introduction
Hyperion had grown by global acquisition and as a result had local HR systems that gave no visibility of its global workforce. Workday provided the solution!
About Hyperion (now Howden Group Holdings)

David Howden formed company after his own name in 1994. As a specialist broker close to the City of London and Lloyds Insurance market, over the next 5 years they quickly expanded and took first steps into international trading by acquiring brokers in Europe.

As the company grew and aquired, and with a group name change to Hyperion, it became clear that disparate HR systems had to be rationalised into a single view of the global workforce.

In 2015 a decision was made to implement Workday across its then 3,500 workers in 35 countries. IT Bites project managed the deployment.

Since Workday has gone live, the company has further grown to 10,000 employees in 45 countries, and also reverted to a name linked to its founder – Howden Group Holdings.

Project details

The project was an important milestone for Workday as it was one of the first to use its rapid deployment methodology known (at the time) as LDP – Lifecycle Deployment Program. Given the easily configurable nature of Workday, the idea behind the approach is to get the customer live as quickly as possible, and to then optimise and extend the functionality in production.

Having undertaken projects as a certified partner, this was IT Bites first project on the Workday Customer side. Given the importance of success, Workday themselves undertook the systems integrator role.

Starting from a point where many of the countries in the organisation had no idea that a central HCM system was being planned, we managed to successfully go live 9 months later. The project was the first to go live on LDP within EMEA.

We also used our resources to assist with change management and training, as well as associates on data and payroll work streams.

IT Bites were engaged for a further 8 months to oversee hypercare, as well as getting work streams underway and live for advanced compensation, performance management, management dashboards  and the design of Workday payroll (this was later cancelled in favour of outsourced payroll).
