Functional > Planning
The planning phase in relation to Functional Design focuses on 2 key
elements:
- An assessment of the effort required in order to deliver the fully
configured system as per the functional specification. This would
include estimating the effort required to build and deliver the customisations
as well as configuration
- A review of the various deliverables required within the implementation, and
how these will be required to interact with each other. This is
particularly important as this will ensure that the interface between the
functional and technical teams is planned..
Of course, the Functional Lead works closely with the Project Manager to
integrate functional deliverables into the overall implementation plan.
The key success factor for this phase is the ability to accurately assess the
time it will take to configure and build the system.
