IT Bites > Services > Functional > Control This activity, which runs in parallel with execution, will ensure that adequate controls are put in place with regard to the delivery of functional components. A key challenge is to ensure that the system is configured and adapted as per the functional specification and that team members are not distracted by what is commonly referred to as 'scope creep'. Within any project change from initial specifications is inevitable, and a rigorous process of change control will need to be established. The Functional Lead is a key stakeholder in any change control process and will need to set time aside to be involved. Ultimately, the Functional Lead will need to take control of delivery of the various components into any User Acceptance Testing phase and ensure that they have been adequately unit tested. Needless to say, as functional components pass through User Acceptance Testing, the functional team will need to continue a watching brief as further modifications are made, unit tested and passed back to the UAT team. |
